Mass Spectrometry Lab Policies

Guidelines for Using the Open Access GCMS

  • Attend a training course provided by the mass spectrometry lab personnel. It will be scheduled every Tuesday in the week (Must be completed before using the instrumentation).
  • Log all samples into the log book provided. Also, please provide any additional comments that may be useful.
  • Do not overwrite other saved methods and general methods.
  • Transfer data files from the instrument computer within 3 weeks.
  • (Data files will be deleted without notice after 3 weeks.)
  • Maintain a clean condition in all mass spectrometry labs.
  • Do not share the room combination with anyone. Also, close the lab and turn off the light if you finish using the instrument after 5 pm.
  • Contact mass spectrometry lab personnel if a problem is encountered.

Guidelines for Using the Open Access LCMS

  • Attend a training course provided by the mass spectrometry lab personnel. It will be scheduled every Thursday in the week (Must be completed before using the instrumentation).
  • Filter all samples with a 2-micron particle size filter prior to running the instrument. 
  • Log all samples into the log book provided.
  • Do not overwrite other saved methods/General methods. 
  • Transfer data files from the instrument computer within 3 weeks.
  • (Data files will be deleted without notice after 3 weeks.)
  • Maintain a clean condition in all mass spectrometry labs.
  • Solvents will be provided and filled by mass spectrometry lab personnel.
  • Do not share the room combination with anyone. Also, if you finish using the instrument after 5 pm please close the door and turn off the light.
  • Contact mass spectrometry lab personnel if a problem is encountered.
