Description

The Varian/Cary 5000 UV-vis-NIR spectrophotometer is a high resolution dual beam instrument with a wavelength range of 175-3300 nm. The instrument can be equipped with an automated variable angle specular reflectance accessory (VASRA) with a scanning range of 20 to 70o. The later technique is often used to measure the thickness of thin films deposited on a substrate. In addition, the instrument is also equipped with a Peltier thermoelectric controller, allowing kinetic and thermal scan experiments to be performed. This instrument is owned jointly by the Chemistry Department and the Asher laboratory.
