Dietrich School Scientific Stockroom

The DSS opened May 20, 2015.  We are a University-owned and run internal scientific supplier with inventory management support from Unity Lab Services.  Our catalog includes products from the former Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics stockrooms, as well as the Excise Tax Free Ethanol Program all in one stockroom.  New suppliers and products are added regularly.  Save space, buy packs to save the space a case takes up.  We help our customers stretch their budget further.  Come pick up your order in Chevron or Langley or have us deliver to your building next day!

Ethanol / Ethyl Alcohol

The University of Pittsburgh Federal Excise Tax-Free Ethanol Program

Tax-free alcohol is un-denatured alcohol used for nonbeverage purposes in scientific research and medicinal uses by educational organizations, hospitals, laboratories, etc. The use of alcohol free of tax is regulated to prevent illegal diverson to taxable beverage use.

200 Proof means the liquid is 100% Ethanol. 190 Proof, means it is a 95% Ethanol solution where the other 5% is water. 

To our 5 gallon 200 proof Ethanol users; 

Due to vendor constraints, the stockroom had to pivot to a new container. 
This container is the same quantity of the same 100% Ethanol and a spigot is also included with these square jugs.

To our 5 gallon 190 proof Ethanol users; 

Due to vendor constraints, the stockroom had to pivot to a new container. 
This container is the same quantity of the same 95% Ethanol and a spigot is also included with these square jugs.

Keep the spigot provided with your ethanol square container. Replacement spigots are available at $5 and $5 shipping using stockroom part number H2955EA.
