Congrats to Tom on forty years!

Tom Harper accepts gift for his long tenure at Pitt

Congrats to Microscopist Tom Harper for his forty year tenure at the university!  Tom started in the Pathology Department in Medical School as a Transmission Electron Microscopy Technician in 1979.  In 1983 he transitioned to Western Psychiatric Institute where  he did visual cortex research.  Tom joined what would become the Dietrich School in July of 1991 in his current postilion but not his current capacity.  At the time Biological Sciences had just acquired their fist confocal microscope.  Under Tom's guidance the facility now boasts four state of the art confocals in addition to the electron microscopes under his care.  Please join us in congratulating Tom and thanking him for his long service to the advancement of science here at Pitt!
